Privacy Policy

How UtilityProviders collects, uses, shares, protects, and retains information when you use our comparison tools and inquiry forms.

Last updated: August 10, 2026
Privacy at a glance. UtilityProviders.com is operated by Utility Providers LLC as an independent energy comparison and referral website. This policy explains the categories of information we may collect, why we use them, when information may be shared, and the choices available to you.

1. Scope of this policy

This Privacy Policy applies to UtilityProviders.com and the forms, comparison tools, rate-alert features, solar inquiries, commercial-energy requests, and related services that link to this policy. It does not govern the independent websites, privacy practices, or systems of utilities, retail energy suppliers, solar companies, regulators, or other third parties that you may visit from our website.

2. Information you provide

Depending on the feature you use, you may provide information such as your name, email address, telephone number, ZIP code, utility territory, service type, business name, estimated energy spend, property or service-location information, and the details you choose to include in an inquiry. If a future enrollment or partner flow requests additional information, the applicable form should identify what is required before submission.

We do not ask you to submit Social Security numbers, payment-card details, utility passwords, or government-issued identification through the general comparison and contact forms on this website.

3. Information collected automatically

Like most websites, we may receive technical and usage information when you visit, including browser and device type, operating system, approximate location derived from IP address, referring page, pages viewed, date and time of access, and interactions with site features. We may use cookies, local storage, pixels, log files, or similar technologies for functionality, analytics, fraud prevention, and performance measurement.

The current static comparison build uses browser storage for items such as a ZIP code, selected state or utility, and test-form receipts so the site can preserve your comparison context. A production deployment may also use analytics or CRM integrations. When those integrations are enabled, this policy should be reviewed alongside the applicable vendor settings and consent mechanisms.

4. How we use information

  • Provide ZIP-based comparison results and utility-territory context.
  • Respond to contact, commercial-energy, solar, or partnership inquiries.
  • Route a request to a provider, supplier, solar partner, or service provider when you ask us to do so.
  • Operate rate alerts or other communications you affirmatively request.
  • Measure and improve website performance, usability, content, and security.
  • Prevent misuse, investigate errors, and protect our legal rights.
  • Comply with applicable legal, regulatory, accounting, or recordkeeping obligations.

5. Referral and service-provider sharing

If you ask to continue with a provider or submit a quote/enrollment inquiry, we may share the information reasonably necessary to handle that request with the relevant supplier, referral network, solar installer, commercial-energy partner, or service provider. Those organizations may have their own privacy notices and become independently responsible for information they receive.

We may also use vendors that help host the website, process forms, deliver email or SMS, provide analytics, secure systems, or support business operations. We expect service providers to use information for the services they perform for us, subject to their agreements and applicable law.

6. Advertising, affiliate links, and analytics

Some links or calls to action may be affiliate or referral links. When you click one, the destination provider or referral platform may receive information such as the referring page, campaign identifier, device/browser data, or information you submit during its own flow. Please review our Advertiser Disclosure for more about compensation relationships.

We may use analytics and advertising measurement technologies to understand site performance. Where applicable, cookie or tracking choices may be available through browser settings, device controls, or a consent-management tool deployed on the site.

7. Communications, telephone, and text messages

If you provide contact details and affirmatively request follow-up, we may use those details to respond to your inquiry. Marketing email or SMS, when offered, should be based on the consent language displayed with the applicable form. Consent to marketing is not a condition of using general website content or comparing plans.

You may unsubscribe from marketing email using the unsubscribe mechanism provided. For SMS, follow the opt-out instructions in the applicable message. Transactional or service-related communications may continue when needed to respond to an active request.

8. Data retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to maintain business records, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and satisfy legal obligations. Retention periods can differ by data type and integration. Browser-stored test data can generally be cleared through your browser storage controls.

9. Data security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information we handle. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your privacy choices and state rights

Depending on where you live and whether a particular privacy law applies to Utility Providers LLC, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or information about certain personal data, and in some jurisdictions to opt out of certain forms of sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or profiling. We will evaluate verified requests under the law that applies to the request.

California residents may have rights under the CCPA/CPRA when the law applies, including rights relating to access, deletion, correction, and certain opt-outs. We do not discriminate against users for exercising applicable privacy rights.

11. Children

UtilityProviders is intended for adults comparing household or business energy services. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through our general website forms.

12. Third-party links

Our website links to providers, utilities, government comparison programs, regulators, and other external websites. We do not control their content, security, privacy policies, or availability. A link does not mean that UtilityProviders operates the linked website.

13. Business changes

If Utility Providers LLC is involved in a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar transaction, information may be transferred as part of that transaction subject to applicable law and appropriate protections.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our website, integrations, or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the date above. Material changes may be communicated in an additional manner where required.

15. Contact and privacy requests

Use the Contact UtilityProviders page for privacy questions or requests. Please describe the request clearly enough for us to identify the relevant information and, where necessary, verify that you are authorized to make the request.
